Biographical Information:

Matthew M. Weissman is a shareholder with Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer's Woodbridge office, which he joined in 1998. He is a member of the firm's Public Utilities and Administrative Law Team. Mr. Weissman's practice is concentrated primarily in the area of public utility litigation, specifically focusing on electricity, natural gas and water company regulation and transactions, ratemaking, telecommunications, county and municipal utility authority issues, and administrative law issues. Representative clients include Public Service Electric & Gas Company, Verizon New Jersey, New Jersey Natural Gas Company, Middlesex County Utilities Authority and Old Bridge Municipal Utilities Authority.

Prior to law school, Mr. Weissman had extensive experience in the energy industry. He was a planning analyst at the Gas Research Institute in Chicago from 1983 to 1986, and subsequently earned a Master of Science degree in Energy Management and Policy at the University of Pennsylvania.

In law school, Mr. Weissman was the editor-in-chief of the Columbia Journal of Law and Social Problems. Prior to joining Wilentz, Mr. Weissman was an associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson in New York, where he was a member of the litigation department. At Fried Frank, Mr. Weissman was involved in antitrust, environmental, bankruptcy, trademark, and general commercial litigation before federal and state courts and arbitrators. He also represented clients involved in mergers and acquisitions before federal antitrust regulators.

Mr. Weissman is Vice Chair of the Board of Consultors of the Public Utility Law Section of the NJSBA.
