Wilentz Attorney John Hogan Receives "Young Lawyer Award"
John E. Hogan, a shareholder with the Criminal Law Team of the Woodbridge-based law firm of Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer, P.A. has been presented with the “Young Lawyer Award” by the Middlesex County Bar Association. This award is given annually to recognize attorneys who devote substantial time and energy to community-oriented activities such as pro bono work, government service, charity involvement or other public service; dedicate considerable volunteer time to bar activities at the county or state level, including specialty and minority bars; and/or have received professional recognition through publications, excellence in a particular area of law, a significant verdict or law-changing appellate decision, or other such professional achievement. The award was presented at the March Awards Dinner held on March 24th at the Pines Manor in Edison, New Jersey.
Mr. Hogan focuses his practice on criminal defense, civil rights litigation, administrative law and appellate matters. He has provided volunteer services for the Court Appointed Special Advocates Office and regularly speaks at seminars on a variety of topics. Mr. Hogan is very active in the local community through his volunteer efforts with Raritan Bay Medical Center and his service as the Central Jersey Chapter Chair of the American Conference on Diversity from 2004 through 2007 (the successor organization to the National Conference for Christians and Jews).
John was honored by the Woodbridge Metro Chamber of Commerce in 2008 as “Citizen of the Year.” In 2009, he was selected for inclusion as one of NJBiz’ “Forty Under 40” for his community leadership and professional achievements. In addition, he has been selected for inclusion by New Jersey Super Lawyers®-Rising Stars Edition each year since 2006 and been recognized for his substantial pro bono efforts by Central Jersey Legal Services, Inc., and by the Civil Pro Bono Panel of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey for representing a group of inmates at East Jersey State Prison to address serious deficiencies in medical care. In his role as Co-Chair of the Middlesex County Bar Association’s Municipal Court Practice Committee, Mr. Hogan has moderated seminars and has drafted numerous position papers on pending legislation.
