People who have been injured or suffer a serious illness as a result of toxins in the workplace and people who have suffered the debilitating side-effects of dangerous pharmaceuticals are often left with little choice but to deal with the resulting traumatic pain and financial hardship. The injured and ill, or their families, may be unaware and—more problematic—uninformed of the cause. Filing a case to seek compensation can be fraught with legal obstacles, and once filed, these complex cases involve facts that are both technical and intricate, making obtaining a remedy a tenuous proposition. Selecting the right lawyer to represent you can make all the difference.
Greg Shaffer, Counsel and member of the Mass Tort team at Wilentz, has the requisite experience and well-honed litigation skills to handle these complex cases. Greg is one of a small group of trial lawyers that have been certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey and has successfully argued many trials and appellate matters on factually complicated and highly contested legal issues on behalf of hundreds of injured clients and their families. A former investigator, Greg ascertains and identifies the pertinent facts necessary to prove these complex cases. And, as an accomplished litigator, he is able to advance cases from inception, through discovery, motions, trials, and if necessary, appellate action. Adept at supervising large caseloads, Greg is able to marshal Wilentz’s considerable firm wide resources and personnel to prosecute and resolve matters with multiple parties and multiple clients, while still ensuring that each client gets the attention and care they need.
Greg has long made people his priority, having served Trial Lawyers Care as an advocate for victims of the 9/11 disaster, as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children and a chairperson for a Child Placement Review Board. For his ongoing efforts, Greg received the 2004 Public Justice Achievement Award.
He has contributed to Trial, Dictum and the Star-Ledger. He has appeared on Eyewitness News, and has been mentioned in The New York Times, The Record and New Jersey Lawyer Magazine.
