Xarelto is a prescription medicine used to reduce the risk of stroke and blood clots in people with atrial fibrillation, not caused by a heart valve problem. The medication is also used to treat deep vein thrombosis and to reduce the risk of forming a blood clot in the legs and lungs following certain surgeries.
There is no antidote for Xarelto to reverse its effects and, unfortunately, this blood thinner can cause serious and irreversible internal bleeding that can lead to hospitalization or death. Patients and their families were not advised to monitor patient blood levels while taking Xarelto and this failure to warn may have contributed to the severe, ongoing bleeding and death.
The Wilentz Firm is currently investigating claims against Bayer Pharmaceuticals, Janssen Pharmaceuticals and Johnson & Johnson for the failure to properly warn patients of these risks and for the failure to remove the product from the market. If you've used Xarelto and have experienced some of the symptoms listed above, please contact us today to speak with an attorney.
