New Jersey Future Awards Wilentz the Smart Growth Award

New Jersey Future honored Anne Babineau and Laurie Meyers in “smart planning and development” projects for sustainable growth in New Jersey at their 2017 Smart Growth Awards Celebration. The Woodmont Metro at Metuchen Station project, which is focused on development of Metuchen Borough’s commuter area, received a Smart Growth Award for its transit-oriented retail and residential development and new public plaza adjacent to the Metuchen station. The development will include 273 high-end residential rental units, a half-acre, open-space piazza , 11,500 square feet shops and restaurants, and a six-level parking deck with 750 parking spaces for residents, commuters and shoppers.  Wilentz, who represented the Metuchen Parking Authority, alongside other advisors, including Woodmont Properties, Nexus Properties, Minno & Wasko Architects and Planners, and the Borough of Metuchen were honored for their work on the project with the award.

The New Jersey Future celebration event united 300 leading professionals in architecture, planning, development, construction, transportation, engineering, law, environmental preservation and policy as well as governmental representatives. New Jersey Future is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that promotes sensible growth, redevelopment and infrastructure investments to foster vibrant cities and towns, protect natural lands and waterways, enhance transportation choices, provide access to safe, affordable and aging-friendly neighborhoods and fuel a strong economy.
