Jonathan Bart is an experienced commercial litigator, appellate advocate and lecturer. His practice is principally confined to complex business disputes and negotiations in courts of general jurisdiction as well as bankruptcy courts.
He has defended financial institutions and related entities in both individual and class action cases under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Truth-in-Lending Act and similar state and federal lender liability statutes. He is a 20-year member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and represents secured and unsecured creditors in pursuing and defending claims in bankruptcy courts, including fraudulent conveyance and preference litigation.
Jonathan has authored works on such topics as fee awards in class action security cases and developments in the field of Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) litigation.
Jonathan is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, cum laude and of Columbia University School of Law. He is a member in good standing of the Pennsylvania and New York Bars and a member of the Pennsylvania and New York Bar Associations. He also is a member of the bar of numerous district courts, the United States Court of Federal Claims, the 3rd, District of Columbia and Federal Circuit Courts of Appeal and the U.S. Supreme Court.
