Wilentz Shareholder Michael F. Schaff, Co-Chair of the Corporate, Health and Cannabis law practice groups, and Shareholder Lisa Gora, Co-Chair of the Cannabis law practice group and member of the Corporate and Health law groups, will each present at the American Health Law Association’s “Physicians and Hospitals Law Institute” in New Orleans, Louisiana. The two and a half day institute will focus on the legal, regulatory, transactional, and compliance challenges physicians, hospitals and health systems face.

On Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, Mr. Schaff and his co-presenter will present the session “Advising Physicians about SuperGroups: A Mardi Gras Parade of Issues,” providing practical tips to identify issues when physicians form or join a SuperGroup, employment terms, buy-out events, and real-life examples for counseling clients.

On Thursday, Ms. Gora and her co-presenter will present “The Past, the Present, the Future regarding Medical and Recreational Cannabis and the Myriad of Issues that Attorneys Should be Aware of from a Legal and Practical Perspective Affecting Physicians and Hospitals.” The session will provide a national overview of medical cannabis, the legal implications with the storage, possession, administration, and consumption of medicinal cannabis on premises at hospitals and other licensed health care facility settings, and how to integrate medicinal cannabis into a patient’s treatment plan, while also discussing how to draft policies and procedures for health facilities and professionals in connection with these topics.
