Everett M. Johnson, Co-Chair of the Wilentz Public Finance Team, served as bond counsel to the City of East Orange in connection with the issuance of $36,510,000 Redevelopment Area Bonds, which provided financing for Phase IA of The Crossings at Brick Church Station. Phase IA of The Crossings is an approximately $230,000,000 urban, mixed-use transit-oriented development project, which will be anchored by a supermarket in addition to restaurants, shops, and mixed-income residences in a town center format around the Brick Church New Jersey Transit Train Station located in the city. Phase 1A of the Redevelopment Project will consist of: (a) approximately 61,490 net square feet of retail space for a new Shop Rite supermarket; (b) approximately 80 residential rental affordable units; (c) approximately 320 market rate residential rental units; (d) a parking deck with approximately 1,186 parking spaces; and (e) approximately 25,000 net square feet of retail space for various commercial uses, together with all associated infrastructure and related improvements.
