Benjamin Montenegro is an associate in the Business and Commercial Litigation group at Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer, P.A., focusing his practice on business litigation.
Prior to joining Wilentz, Ben served as a law clerk to the Honorable Mark A. Troncone, P.J.Ch., in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Chancery, Ocean Vicinage. Earlier in his career Ben was a student clinician for the South Royalton Legal Clinic, Veterans Legal Assistance Program. He provided pro bono legal assistance to Vermont’s military veteran population in matters concerning: debtor issues such as bankruptcy relief, foreclosure defense, consumer protection, and appeals from the denial of VA benefits and discharge upgrades.
While attending law school, Ben became a teaching and research assistant supporting his professor with tutoring students and organizing class materials. He was also elected as a Senator of the Student Bar Association (SBA) by his peers to represent the interests of the student body. Ben was awarded the Lex Pro Urbe Et Orbe Award for outstanding dedication to the enrichment of the Vermont Law School community.
Ben earned his law degree from Vermont Law School in 2023 where he graduated from the Accelerated JD Program, completing the curriculum in two years. He graduated from Wagner College with a B.A. in Government and Politics and a minor in Sociology in 2021 while also playing for the school's NCAA Division I baseball team.
