Wilentz Attorneys to Present at the New Jersey State Bar Association 2022 Annual Meeting and Convention

Wilentz attorneys will present on a number of topics, including criminal, cannabis, employment law, and mediation, at the New Jersey State Bar Association’s 2022 Annual Meeting and Convention.

On Wednesday, May 18th:

9:30 – 11:00 a.m.

Peter R. Herman will present on a panel entitled “The Dynamics of Commercial Loan Closings – From Internal and External Counsels’ Perspectives,” co-sponsored by the Banking Law Section, the program will review the documents and mechanics as well as the terms and conditions of the loan.

4:15 - 5:30 p.m.

Donna M. Jennings will present on a panel entitled "Hot Topics in Land Use," to discuss current trends and issues in the land use arena; including an update on affordable housing, current legislative trends in land use, electrical vehicle charging, the post-COVID approvals process.

4:30 – 6:00 p.m.

John E. Keefe Jr., NJSBA Past President, will present at a panel entitled “Practice Gratitude,” a program charged with the president’s initiative to provide tips for attorneys to manage stress and navigate the legal profession while remaining grateful.

Darren M. Gelber will present at a panel entitled “Insurance Fraud,” co-sponsored by the NJSBA’s Criminal Law Section and Insurance Law Section this program will focus on the investigation and prosecution of insurance offenses.

These programs have been approved by the Board on Continuing Legal Education of the Supreme Court of New Jersey for 1.8 hours of total CLE credit, (50 minute hour). NY and PA CLE credit is available.

On Thursday, May 19th:

8:15 - 9:45 a.m.

Michael F. Schaff, Past Co-Chair of the NJSBA Cannabis Law Committee, Past Chair of the Health Law Section, and current NJSBA Trustee, will serve as a panelist for “Cannabis Licensing in New Jersey: What You Need to Know as the Businesses Light Up." The program will consist of two panels, one on personal use licenses and the other on municipal issues in connection with licensing.

This program has been approved by the Board on Continuing Legal Education of the Supreme Court of New Jersey for 1.8 hours of total CLE credit, (50 minute hour). NY and PA CLE credit is available.

10:30 - 11:45 a.m.

Stephanie Gironda will present at a panel entitled “Opening The Black Box: The Intersection of AI and Employment Law,” the panel will discuss the pros and cons of using AI in employment decisions and provide recommendations on “de-biasing” the algorithms.

This program has been approved by the Board on Continuing Legal Education of the Supreme Court of New Jersey for 1.5 hours of total CLE credit, (50 minute hour). NY and PA CLE credit is available.

3:30 – 5:00 p.m.

Maureen S. Binetti will present at a panel entitled “Surfing The Waves of Conflict: Winning Strategies for Navigating Settlement Discussions in Mediations of Workplace Disputes.” The panel will present insight from attorneys in a variety of mediation positions; an in-house employment attorney, corporate defense counsel, plaintiff’s employees’ rights counsel, and neutral workplace mediators.
